GM Strives for Consumer Confidence With New Warranty
|
November 20, 2006 Goshen Buick, GMC is proud to announce a substantial increase in the powertrain warranty and roadside assistance coverage on every new Buick & GMC vehicle. The new 5-year/100,000-mile warranty and matching roadside assistance coverage affects all model-year 2007 GM cars and light trucks, including those already purchased. It is in addition to the current 4-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty offered on Buicks, Cadillacs, Hummers, and Saabs and the 3-year/36,000-mile warranty on Chevrolets, GMCs, Pontiacs, and Saturns. In a recent news conference General Motors C.E.O. Rick Wagoner called the new warranty "an important next step in our turnaround program and one important way we're going to strengthen the confidence of GM customers. It is the best warranty of any full-line manufacturer in the U.S." "Our announcement today is a clear sign of the confidence we have in the quality and values of our cars and trucks and in the people who design, engineer, supply, build, sell, and service them," Wagoner said. According to Wagoner, overall vehicle quality is up at each brand. In fact, Wagoner boasted that GM has reduced total warranty repairs by 40 percent over the last five years. In order to back this claim and strengthen consumer confidence in the ailing domestic automaker, GM is lengthening both the powertrain warranty and roadside assistance and making the warranty deductible-free and fully transferable. We've come a long way in the battle to eliminate quality gaps to competition," Wagoner said. To prove it, he joked, "We're putting our money where our mouth is." With news of the warranty increase Goshen Buick, GMC, Hyundai President Dzung Nguyen encouraged Michiana car buyers to take a fresh look at the 2007 Buick & GMC models available for test drive in Goshen. "As dealers we already knew of the significant quality improvements in the 2007 GMC and Buick lines, and with the new 5-year/100,000-mile warranty and matching roadside assistance coverage, General Motors has sent a strong message that Americans stand behind the vehicles we build," said Nguyen.
